An Azerbaijan–Czech Republic Business Forum was held
On 27 April, the Azerbaijan–Czech Republic Business Forum was held in Qabala with the participation of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Andrej Babiš.
The President of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic addressed the event.
The forum was organised jointly by the Export and Investment Promotion Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan — AZPROMO and the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic, with the support of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Economy and the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade. Alongside government officials from both countries, the event brought together representatives of companies operating in trade, energy, industry, construction, finance, transport and logistics, ICT, and services.
Speaking at the business forum, Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov emphasised that economic relations between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic are developing on the basis of mutual trust and shared priorities. It was noted that the Joint Commission on Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic serves as an effective institutional mechanism for strengthening the partnership. The Czech Republic is one of Azerbaijan’s key trade and export partners.
Azerbaijan makes a significant contribution to the Czech Republic’s energy security. At the same time, trade diversification remains one of the main priorities of the economic partnership. The broad prospects for expanding cooperation in industry, trade, investment, energy—including green energy—transport and logistics, and other areas were highlighted. Participants were informed about Azerbaijan’s economic potential, favourable business environment, investment platforms supporting trade, manufacturing and logistics, as well as the opportunities created for investors in the Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions.
Karel Havlíček, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, highlighted the broad opportunities for strengthening economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic. He noted the importance of the business forum and similar events in developing cooperation and shared his views on prospective areas of joint activity.
Yusif Abdullayev, Executive Director of AZPROMO, delivered a presentation on Azerbaijan’s investment potential and economic opportunities.
Jan Rafaj, President of the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic, emphasised the importance of expanding ties between the business communities and spoke about cooperation mechanisms and new partnership opportunities.
A ceremony for the exchange of signed documents was held as part of the forum. Cooperation memoranda were exchanged between AZPROMO and Frýdlantské Strojírny – TR s.r.o., as well as between the Czech-Moravian Association of Women Entrepreneurs and the Association for the Development of Women’s Entrepreneurship in Azerbaijan. Memoranda of understanding were also exchanged between AZPROMO and the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic, Sumgayit Technologies Park and Škoda Transportation, and BCC Group CJSC Azerbaijan and WITKOWITZ, A.S., RADIS D.O.O.
The documents cover support for entrepreneurship development, the expansion of business activity, and the promotion of cooperation in areas such as industry, infrastructure, and transport. They are expected to contribute to strengthening and diversifying the Azerbaijan–Czech economic partnership.
B2B and B2G meetings were also held during the event.
