Installation of solar panels has begun at the Shafag Solar Power Plant

The installation of solar panels has begun at the Shafag Solar Power Plant, an investment project supported by the Azerbaijan Business Development Fund (ABDF), bp, SOCAR Green, and MVM.

The 240 MW power plant, currently under construction in the liberated Jabrayil district, is expected to generate approximately 500 GWh of renewable energy annually.

The Shafag Solar Power Plant will supply electricity to the Jabrayil district power grid while also meeting the Sangachal Terminal’s energy needs through renewable sources. The project’s main objectives are to advance Azerbaijan’s green energy sector, unlock the economic potential of the liberated territories, and enhance environmental sustainability.

Currently, 350 people are employed under the project, including 123 residents of the liberated territories.
